Duy Tan Hotel, Hue, Vietnam: Need more than Bricks & mortar to make a good hotel

We found that some of the staff were completely uncaring as to guest comfort. This hotel does conferences & weddings as its core business. Individual guests sometimes don't get a look in. As an example, on our first night in this hotel all of the restaurants were pre booked. I asked at reception where we might eat. We were told to use the outdoor cafe. I replied that it was raining. The receptionist replied"Yes, it is!" We eventually found someone to set up a table indoors. Breakfast is between 6.30 & 8.30am. We arrived for breakfast at 7.15am. At 7.30am the lights were turned off & builders started work on the stage at the end of the dining room that is used as a conference room as well. People arriving for breakfast were being turned away. I find their attitude to customer service unusual in the extreme. Perhaps they have never heard of it?? Some of the staff are very good but not all. It's a pity. This is a marvellous complex & it could be made into an excellent hotel. Unfortunately we had prebooked & paid for 5 nights.
